Blykalla AB is a Swedish company specializing in the development and construction of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) to provide the next generation of clean energy. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Blykalla's design is based on over 25 years of research. Their main product, the Swedish Advanced Lead Reactor (SEALER), is a compact 55 MWe reactor cooled with liquid lead and features passive safety characteristics. This technology aims to provide a safe, efficient, and scalable energy source, particularly suitable for energy-intensive industries and data centers. The company has significant partnerships and secured funding including a SEK 99 million grant and a EUR 17 million EU investment. Blykalla plans to complete its first SEALER reactor by 2030 and start series production in the 2030s.
